5th graders parade balloons

The first trimester ends on December 6th and report cards will be available for grades 1-5 via the Genesis Parent Portal after 3:30 PM on December 13th. The district website has been updated with a FAQ document for Standards-Based Report Cards and the most recent benchmark documents (among other items) for your reference.

With report cards coming up, parents may be interested in this resource from the National Association of Elementary School Principals titled Talking About Grades.

Students in grades 1-5 will be administered the second i-Ready diagnostic assessment during the week of December 9th. This assessment helps us monitor student growth and identify areas of focus for whole group, small group, and individual instruction moving forward. Students should be proud of their hard work so far this year and should use these assessments as a way to show everything they have learned.

COOLIDGE STUDENT COUNCIL COAT DRIVE

Are you looking to help others this holiday season? The Coolidge Student Council has partnered with One Warm Coat to host a Holiday Coat Drive! Families are encouraged to donate new or gently used coats to benefit the New Destiny Family Success Center in Paterson. All coat sizes will be accepted. The drive will be held from November 25th-December 4th.  Students should bring the coats to school and drop them in the collection bin near the front or back entrance.

The Student Council has set a goal to collect at least 120 coats but is hoping to reach 150 donated coats. Let's see if we can do this Coolidge School. Go Cougars!

Here is a flyer for the coat drive.

1ST AND 2ND GRADE MINI-MUSICAL- Message from Mr. Cosman

We are so excited to be performing our show for you next week! Please remember that students should bring their costumes to school by Monday. First-grade chorus and 2nd-grade non-speaking parts should bring in a solid-colored T-shirt (green, yellow, purple, or orange would work best!) Please make sure the T-shirt comes to school in a zip-loc bag labeled with your child's name and class. On the days of the shows, please send your child to school wearing blue jeans. We will have the shirts ready for them!

Second graders with speaking parts should have received an email from me last week and a reminder today about what character they are playing. You can also ask your child, they should know what speaking part/character they were grouped into. These costumes should also be in by Monday. Speakers should come to school wearing school clothes and we will help them change in and out of their costumes on Wednesday and Thursday.

The December 4th show is for First Grade families and the December 5th show is for Second Grade families. Both shows start at 9:15. The show will last for approximately 30 minutes. You will enter the school through the gymnasium doors. All non-school-age family members are invited to come see the show!

Looking forward to seeing you all. Have a very happy healthy Thanksgiving!
